Beautiful. Flawless. You.
Veneers can restore the look of your smile by covering bothersome cosmetic issues – such as discoloration or gaps – in a natural, flawless manner. Applied directly or indirectly, veneers are a beautiful way to achieve the smile of your dreams, and the experts at River Oaks Dental can help you get there.
What are Veneers?
Dental veneers involve a procedure during which a covering is placed over the front surface of your teeth to conceal or change any cosmetic issues you may have.
Typically, veneers are only applied to the part of the tooth that is visible when talking or smiling. After virtually designing your smile using our Digital Smile Design technology, we will preview and discuss the exact specifications of your perfect smile. Then, this simulation will be used to design your veneers to the proper size, color, and shape for your smile.
Veneers can fit an entire smile or just a few teeth and can be applied directly or indirectly. Either way, your veneers will blend in seamlessly with your smile while vastly improving your look and confidence.
Direct Application
The direct application technique involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth. After the filling material has been applied, it is shaped and polished into a natural-looking veneer.
Direct veneers are a convenient option as very little tooth preparation is required, meaning treatment is usually completed during a single visit. Though less expensive than porcelain veneers, composite veneers tend to stain and break down over time to a much greater extent than indirect porcelain veneers.
Indirect Application
The indirect application technique is used to create strong, durable porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are fabricated at a dental laboratory, usually requiring two appointments to complete. At the first appointment, teeth are prepared, impressions or scans are taken, and teeth are fitted with a temporary covering.
At your next visit, permanent porcelain veneers are fitted and adjusted before being bonded onto your prepared teeth. Porcelain veneers are often chosen for their longevity, as they can last many years if cared for appropriately. Porcelain veneers do not stain over time (in comparison to composite veneers), ensuring a long-lasting, flawless smile.
