Multiple Insurance Options and Financial Guidance

At River Oaks Dental, we work with patients with a range of dental insurance plans. Whether in-network, out-of-network, or none at all, our goal is the same – to make the process feel easier, less stressful, and less confusing.

No matter your insurance provider, our team can help submit claims and necessary documentation to your insurance company on your behalf. Depending on your plan, insurance reimbursement may be sent directly to you by mail.

Most importantly, dental insurance does not determine what treatment is needed for your health.

Insurance companies create coverage limitations and policies that do not always reflect what is best for your teeth long term. Just because insurance may not cover a treatment does not mean the problem should be ignored.

Unfortunately, dental problems often continue to worsen over time when left untreated. Small problems can become larger, more painful, and more expensive later.

Our job is to help you understand:

  • What is happening
  • What treatment is recommended
  • How insurance may help
  • How can we help make care fit within your budget and priorities?

Call us at (218) 927-3785 and let our team help guide you through your options.

What Are My Payment Options?

River Oaks Dental is currently in network with Delta Dental Commercial and Health Partners Commercial.

With an in-network plan, you can benefit from lower out-of-pocket costs. Still, coverage may vary depending on your specific policy.

Have questions about your coverage or what your plan includes? Give us a call at (218) 927-3785—we’re happy to walk you through it and help you get the most from your benefits.

At River Oaks Dental, we work with patients who have many different types of dental insurance plans—including those that may be considered in-network or out-of-network, or plans with limited benefits.

Dental insurance can be confusing, and many patients are surprised to learn that being “out of network” does not necessarily mean they cannot receive care here or that treatment will be significantly more expensive. In many cases, patients still receive valuable reimbursement from their insurance company while continuing care with a dental team they trust and feel comfortable with.

Our team is happy to help you understand your benefits, estimate coverage when possible, and assist with submitting claims or necessary documentation.

Most importantly, we never want insurance confusion to become a barrier to receiving the care you need.

Dental insurance is designed to help offset some costs. Still, it does not determine what treatment is healthiest or most appropriate for your smile. Unfortunately, dental problems often continue to worsen over time when left untreated—leading to more discomfort, more extensive treatment, and higher costs later.

If insurance helps, wonderful—we’ll help you maximize your benefits. If insurance does not fully cover treatment, we’ll help explore financing options, phased treatment plans, payment solutions, or our Dental Savings Club to help make care more manageable within your budget.

Whether you have insurance, limited coverage, or none at all, our goal is the same: helping you receive compassionate, high-quality that feels comfortable, clear, and judgment-free.

Call us at (218) 927-3785, and let our team help guide you through your options.

We welcome out-of-network insurance from a variety of carriers. We can submit claims on your behalf or provide the documentation your insurer requires. Some out-of-network plans pay similarly to—or occasionally more than—in-network plans, and we’ll help you understand your estimate. Please note that it’s up to your carrier to determine their coverage of a claim and what portion is your responsibility. Companies we work with include:

Aetna, United Concordia, Medica, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Mutual of Omaha, DentaQuest, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BC/BS), Sun Life, MetLife, Humana, TriCare, Guardian, Ameritas, Physicians Mutual, Spirit, Minnesota Medical Assistance (MA)*, MinnesotaCare*

One plan we cannot accept is IMCare (Itasca Medical Care). If this is your insurance, please get in touch with them for an updated list of providers.

* Covered by Minnesota Medical Assistance (MA) or MinnesotaCare? We can see you, but please be aware that we cannot submit claims on your behalf, and that payment is due at the time of service.

How do your out-of-network benefits work? Call us at (218) 927-3785, and we’ll help you understand your options and take the guesswork out of your visit.

Many patients choose CareCredit to help move forward with treatment sooner rather than delaying care due to financial concerns.

CareCredit is a simple, flexible healthcare financing option for qualified patients to pay for care in monthly installments. And we’ve made it easy to set up: you can apply from your smartphone, whether in the office or at home.

The terms of approval and terms are set by CareCredit, not River Oaks Dental. Promotional financing options may be available from time to time.

Wondering if CareCredit is right for you? Call our team at (218) 927-3785—we’ll explain how it works and help you explore flexible payment options that fit your budget.

You are absolutely not alone. Many of our patients either do not have dental insurance or choose care based on quality, comfort, and trust rather than insurance network restrictions.

Dental insurance was designed to help offset some costs—not to fully cover all dental care. In fact, many annual maximums today are nearly the same as they were decades ago, despite the significant advances in modern dentistry and rising healthcare costs.

The most important thing is protecting your health before small problems become larger ones. Delaying treatment often leads to more discomfort, more complex procedures, and higher costs over time.

At River Oaks Dental, we’re committed to helping you find a realistic path forward. Whether that means using our Dental Savings Club , arranging financing through CareCredit, creating phased treatment plans, or discussing payment options—we’ll help you navigate the process with compassion and clarity.

Your health matters. Your comfort matters. And we believe you deserve to understand all your options without feeling judged or pressured.

Call us at (218) 927-3785 to speak with our team and explore the best option for you.

If you don’t have dental insurance or choose not to use it. Pay at the time of service, set up a payment plan by prepaying, or let us help you arrange a short-term plan.

Check out our Dental Savings Club below to learn how you can take advantage of the plan for savings and discounts. It’s one more way to keep your smile healthy without added stress.

Our Dental Savings Club was created to help patients receive consistent, preventative dental care without the frustrations and limitations that often come with traditional insurance.

No deductibles. No waiting periods. No annual maximums. No surprises.

Just clear, straightforward savings designed to help you maintain a healthy smile while making dental care more manageable and affordable.

Preventing problems early is one of the best ways to avoid more expensive treatment later—and our savings club helps make that possible.

Our club is a simpler, smarter alternative to dental insurance. No deductibles. No waiting periods. No surprises. Just straightforward, affordable care designed to keep your smile healthy year-round.

Many patients are surprised to learn:

“If insurance doesn’t cover it, I must not need it.”

“Out-of-network means I can’t go there.”

“I should wait until it hurts.”

“Insurance determines what treatment is best.”

In reality, dental insurance plans are designed around policy limitations and employer-selected benefits—not necessarily around what is healthiest long-term for your mouth.

Our role is to help you understand your condition, your options, and the treatment recommendations that best support your long-term health and comfort.
